It is the start of the new year meaning that it is time to go over the past year’s content as well as discussing what is to come.
Before I dive into the sections, I would like to apologize. This time last year, I announced all sorts of new projects. The success of these projects varies but the recurring theme is that I fell behind on a lot and didn’t even start on some of them, let alone complete. I may have overestimated what I could do since this is all still new to me. At the same time, I am a college student, and although I am due to graduate this May, there comes the question of what happens next. I just ask that you keep this in mind when I discuss upcoming content.
Books
Last year, I announced two projects: the sequel to the House of Virgil and a spin-off based in Santiago’s Shield. The sequel was scheduled to release in the summer and the spin-off in the winter. As you can tell by the lack of books published under my name during that time that those plans fell through.
Now, progress has been made on both works. I have already announced the sequel’s title as the Rise of the Adept and provided a first look at the story. While I never announced it on my website, I did submit some chapters of Vigilant spin-off for a writing contest and made some edits to it as well. It just so happens that I wasn’t able to publish either story.
For Rise of the Adept, I am hoping to have it published sometime during 2022. I won’t say what season because I honestly don’t know but will make an announcement when I do know. As for the Vigilant spin-off, I am optimistic that it could be done in 2022 as well but I think it may come out next year (here I am already thinking about 2023).
I have no new books planned seeing as how I have to finish the others first.
Podcasts
While I may not have been able to get the books out on time, I did have more luck with getting podcasts out there. Granted, I completely went away from what I said I was going to do last year but podcasts were still released.
The plan moving forward is to continue with the podcasts that I have been working on. I am behind on both Running Curse of Strahd and Gettin’ Real with the Reels but am hopeful to keep up on those. As for the Choice of Games podcasts, that’s a little more difficult to arrange, but it will be on my mind to do at some point.
I have no other new podcast series planned at this moment. I have individual episodes planned, like the History of Kansas podcast mentioned during the latter half of the year, as well as another podcast I have scripted out. Be on the look out for those special episodes when they do come out.
There really isn’t a set date for any of the projects in this section. Be on the look out for updates in the monthly agendas throughout the year.
Videos
While I have had better luck with podcasts, the same can’t be said for videos. Allow me to give a quick recap. Last year, I announced an assortment of videos. I ended up losing the footage for the Iron Man challenge and the comedy routine, I am simply not interested in posting Overwatch gameplay or working on Dungeons and Dragons and Warcraft due to my own feelings on Blizzard at the moment, and the League of Dungeons and Dragons fell behind due to technological errors. Basically, nothing came out.
Let’s talk about what to expect from me regarding videos. I’m just going to say that right now, I will likely only be working on the League of Dungeons and Dragons. I think that there is a lot of potential for that to work out and I am optimistic that I have solved the issues that delayed me before. Of course, given that I am already behind on several other projects, I’m not going to give a release date yet. Be on the lookout for updates in the monthly agenda.
Otherwise, I might post videos related to video game in some way. I have no idea how it will look. It’s just an idea going around in my head right now. If something comes out of that, I’ll go from there.
Writing
Much like podcasts, I have been able to somewhat keep up with posting some writing on the website. Granted, the only story that has really continued out of those I’ve discussed was the Journal of Runark, but better that there is some progress made than no progress.
Not much to say here. The Journal of Runark will finish during this year. I hope to get the group back together so I can continue getting entries for the Journal of Darius Ballister. Finally, while the other projects were not able to work out, there always remains the possibility that I will find something else to write on.
Website
I’ll be honest and just say I completely forgot to do everything I said I was going to do in last year announcements. No excuses other than my bad memory.
I fully expect for some sort of improvement to the website’s design sometime this year, likely during the first half. It turns out that a lot of jobs I’m interested in are looking at applicant’s websites, so updating is a must.
Conclusion
It may seem that this year’s announcements was lackluster and that I focused on what didn’t work while not announcing anything new. I’ve failed a lot last year. There’s no denying that. However, at the very least, it just means that 2022’s announcements will be better, just as long as I can move on from my failure, push forward, and get these projects done now that I know my own limits and flaws.
Until next time.
